Celebrate Your Age!!

I am here to proudly say that on Feb 16th, 2018, I turned 53!
I am 53 years old and I am very grateful to have been here on this earth this long.
I am grateful for the things in my life. As I celebrated it occurred to me, how often people say, “Oh don’t ask their age, that’s impolite" or people are embarrassed to say
how old they are. Why is that???

Why can’t we celebrate how old we are, whether we are 53, 63, 83 or 93?
Should we not be saying, “Wow! That’s incredible! Good for you, you’ve been here this long.” Because we all know someone who has died young and they would be more than happy to
be 53 and have a few more wrinkles and grey hair.

Shouldn’t we be celebrating our age, no matter what it may be?
Shouldn’t we proudly announce, “I’m 53 years old, or whatever age?

So I challenge you to re-frame this thought and feel like it’s something to be proud of,
to be grateful, to celebrate each and every day. And just maybe, when you read this blog
or watch the video…why don’t you share with us, how old you are, how many years you
get to celebrate that you have been here and you are living your life. And hopefully you are living your life to the fullest at any age!
I am 53! And I am going to be piz-zazier and blingy-er (yes, those are words) with every decade, so look out!

I encourage you to share your age and celebrate your age,
whatever it may be!!

I am pleased to celebrate that I am 75 years old. I am Grateful to have been here this long and I live my life to the fullest!!!

Mom, when I look at how beautiful you are at 75, it is proof that it has nothing to do with a #! You radiate beauty from the inside out and from loving yourself and others! Thank you, glad your my mom! xo

Yes Yvonne! I have said the same thing for years now. My mother died at 47 and as a 16 year old, I thought she was old. As I reached that age myself, I realized how wrong I was and celebrate every year grateful for another! Hope to see you at my 60 for 60 fundraiser in May!!!

Congratulations Claudette, you have been on this earth for three quarters of a century. I'm right behind you as I will celebrate 75 in two years. I'm not afraid to tell anyone my age. My dad was 47 years old and I was 16 at the time and yes that was young but I used to think I hope I'll make it to fifty. I did and what a celebration each day has become. Yvonne thank you for continuous hard work. Keep it up. We need people that has no problem sharing life. Have a great day everyone. We are all blessed. Denise

Wow, Denise, it looks like you and Nancy have the very same thing in common; a parent dying when you were 16! I love that you celebrate your life and your age! You are worth celebrating. And than you for your kind words. I will keep doing what I'm doing until my dying day...whenever that may be! ;)

My mom died at 62, and I wondered if I’d surpass her because of our family histories. Then I wondered how long I’d have all my marbles, because that little problem runs in the family, too. ...Now, what was I saying? And who the heck are you, anyway ? ..oh, yes! Here I am, 75, approaching 76, and happy to tell the world. As that saying goes,...”It’s a privilege denied to many.”

Thank you for sharing, Wendy! I'm glad you still have all your marbles, well most of them anyway. haha!! You are fabulous at 75! I spoke to the Baysville Muskoka Seniors yesterday, and your vaccuuming story and Paul's salad-in-a-bag. Big LOLs! :)

Yvonne, I have to thank you for making me recognize the fact about turning a certain age is a positive...I have been struggling with the fact that I will turn 70 this August. As I still remember my Mom being this age, was having a hard time adjusting to the fact that I am there already! I know that I am very lucky being a cancer survivor and will be 15 yrs cancer free this June...so yes, I am very blessed to be turning 70 and will look at it in a totally new way, thanks to you!

Hello Joan! Well this just made my day! Isn't it amazing how a little re-framing can change everything. I am so glad that you will be celebrating 70 now, and seeing it as the privilege that it is. And 15 years cancer free, double celebration!!! :)
